There are 6 routes from this start point, some of which are quite challenging. Plan to take three hours to complete the longer routes that have higher trail ratings. Wear good footwear, bring food and water and a walking stick, and pack basic first aid supplies.

- Emma Dixon - Squally Reach (10 km). This route starts at the Emma Dixon trailhead on Emma Dixon Road. The route climbs up to lower Jocelyn Hill, then to the Squally Reach viewpoint, featuring great views. Trail rating is 3C.
- Partridge Hill, Durrance Lake, McKenzie Bight (5 km). This route starts from the Mt. Work parking lot on Ross-Durrance Road. The route goes around Durrance Lake and down to McKenzie Bight, then returns to the parking lot. Trail rating is 2B.
- Partridge Hill - Cascade Falls (9 km). This route also starts from the Mt. Work parking lot on Ross-Durrance Road. The route goes up to two viewpoints on Partridge Hill, then continues to McKenzie Bight, returning to the parking lot via Cascade Falls. Trail rating is 3C.
- Squally Reach (10 km). This route also starts from the Mt. Work parking lot on Ross-Durrance Road. The route goes down to McKenzie Bight, then climbs to Cascade Falls and the Squally Reach viewpoint, then circles Durrance Lake before returning to the parking lot. Trail rating is 4C - very difficult!
- Squally Reach (6 km). Starting from the Mt. Work parking lot on Ross-Durrance Road, this route ascends to Squally Reach viewpoint, then returns to the start point. Trail rating is 3C.
- Gowlland Tod, Durrance Lake, McKenzie Bight (8 km). From the parking lot on Ross-Durrance Road this route goes around Durrance Lake, then down to McKenzie Bight and returns to the parking lot. Trail rating is 2B.
